The following is a clip, that had circulated via e-mail and phone mail, of a teacher in a Chasidish school, during class.
I will not elaborate wimth my personal views on these rather painfull issue, I would just like to bring across 3 points, and leave the rest to you.
1) Listen to what the teacher is saying, and tell me if that should be part of the curriculum for girls that are obviously open minded enough to cam this on their cell phone. –if you think otherwise, then-
2) Realize the participation of the audience.
3) Note, that this has been captured by a student in class, who obviously has a cell/video phone during class, as well as internet access.

Do you still wonder why some girls are rather disappointed when their basherteh chshevah Talmud Chuchom, will have to go to work?
Do you have a better view of why a decent Buchor with a shiur twice a day and works the rest of it, has a major problem finding a shiduch?

maybe it is a valuntery something
moochy can you write here what she is saying i have a hard time understanding
TIA
It seems like the teacher is saying something wise, if I understood correctly, she's saying it's important to look beyond first impressions (is that it Moochy?)
The class obviously needs stricter teacher, some where standing others were shmoozing and one was RECORDING!
moochy
i finaly was able to figure out she is saying i see nothing wrong
first she says that the chasam sofer said its not the hat someone is wearing on his head its what is inside a persons head that counts then she says that when she comes in every morning in class she doesnt pay attention to how the girls dress she looks at personality.
she is a great teacher!
moochy
what she is telling her students are just the opposite as you meant it to be
she is saying even if a girl wears super tznius if her actions are sluty her tznius clothing are meaningless you ofcourse took it the other way around that a girl can be dressed sluty but if her personality is good thats what counts the teacher meant the former mooch i guarantee you
Well, If you all seem to think it's OK, I would not argue it.
I just thought the contents and the way she delivers the speach is rather suited for a shiur in Bais medrash then for girls in education. I am not sure you can argie it when you see that most girls arent paying attention to this highly educational thought.
PS I bet you none of those girls know what safru. sifri, toseftah and mechiltah are.
Anyone who can translate word for word, please feel free to do so.
( I can, it just takes a great deal of time)
mooch ill translate it today when i have time if noone translated it yet ill post it here
Nohrmaal,
Thanx for making my point clear!
Your secon paragraph, is what inspired me to write this.
In all, I must say that I am surprised, that others werent so overtaken by it as myself.
I guess to each their own.
BTW Nohrmaal, did you realize that she dosent do the "finger turning" at the right time? lol
moochy here is the word for word translation i promised to post earlier in the day
they said to the chasam sofer look at whats under his hat there you will find a guy that
knows both versions of talmud babylon and the western talmud as well as all taniac
teachings and the 4 books of law the entire torah;
(she now speaks about herself) when i come into the classroom everyday i dont look at
you girls as the naked eye sees i do a complete analysis of each and everyone of you to see
and analize how your individual talants, traits, and spiritual levels
will grow you to your future my analysis is
not according to your actions now but based on the actions i believe you will be able to do
with your individual talants and traits.
please reply moochy TIA
moochy
it seems like a few girls are taking notes writing down what she said
ofcourse you dont know what she said before and after its just a clip you know how clips can decieve
maybe the girls that are not paying attention is because its been after 2 hours of the teacher talking so they didnt have patience anymore
eshet
me and you agreeing how sweet i hope this is a good start ;)
Wow Moochy great post.. For a change I totally agree with YY..
But yeah, I dont thinkl these girls have a clue what she is talking about. Sifra Sifri..what no Challa recipes
YY: Thanx for translating, but it was not a word for word translation, which is the actual funny part.
again, the concept is great. I wouldnt argue that, I just felt that girls shouldnt be thought to look for a guy who posesses safru, sifri, bavli yerushalmi and mechilta "under their hat".
And again, the way she delivers it , is not in such a pleasent way as you described it, and I am sure the message would of had greater effect had it been given in a shiur for MEN.
Special, check with your boss...
Bald: "Weird" is a nice way of putting it.
Fain Yiddish: welcome aboard, but why is it so bad? is it something that should be kept in the classroom? look at all the comments above, I think people admired the toichen of her speach?
(not discounting the fact that a girl shouldnt be up to that, in general) but why wouldnt yom kippur be mechaper ????
Sem: Is the wow for the post? or rather the fact that many ppl agreed with YY? :)
Dating, is Yiddish a skill?
BTW I bet you most of the people on here speak english at home.
Nohrmaal:
"Moochy the issue is not the comments said here, the issue is and its the bottom line; does this clip being distributed on the internet forever! hurt this woman yes or no?"
Sounds like you are saying a big yes to that question, I just cant see how??? how does it hurt her????
BTW I would like to hear other peoples opinions about this, -does it hurt her or not- so I should know if I should remove the link.
why would that teacher care
if she said it in the classroom it can be on the internet
Yiddish is my first language too.
There's one thing though I don't get.
Where is the Chilul Hashem in this?
slik you perv
i bet she didnt mean what you have up in your dirty mind
Uh... I didn't watch the clip but... was definately entertained from the comments alone. I dont understand yiddish so it would be pointless. In the girls defense I will just say that even when the class is amazing and worthwhile to listen to... if the teacher is boring and the class is restless, then they will not listen. A shame but true, doesn't mean the girls shouldnt learn the stuff. Just my POV.
I specifically mentioned the word "Chilul Hashem" which so many commenters are throwing out there.
Of course I think it's awful and dead wrong that this woman's identity has been compromised.
But I don't see why the concept of Chillul hashem is at play here.
Chillul Hashem because frum high school girls do trouble in class?
What is wrong with giving these girls a lil learning providing she knows what she is saying, and she shouldnt be teaching if she doesnt
nohrmaal:
I was writing a response for the comparrson you were trying to make, but then realized that slik already explained it with the "Divneh Magid", Thanx Slik , and I wouldnt come up with the Magid for that ;)
Hoizen, Totaly agree with you.
Slik Thanx, and YY slik, is no perv.
sem, as I said before I doubt that she knows the difference of a "safari" and "Safri" Caould be just a typo, no?
As my yiddish is basic, I could only pick up the 'gemoreh... sifri, sifro.' Even with the sparse translation, I am still unsure what the whole point of the clip is. "Funny" b/c of content or just that it was filmed in satmer class and posted on internet?
Why is this a painful issue?
Not sure why ppl say chillul H' but I am positive she would not want video of her class posted on the net.
The girl in the background seems to be davening - whats with that? So unless it was a long Shachris (mincha?), it probably wasnt filmed after an hour of class.
Class participation is obviously not encouraged - don't want anyone actually thinking for themselves!
I am sure the kids in the class have completely forgotten it by now - if they ever listened to it, and here we are, giving it a whole Rashi & Tosfes!
Hi Karl,
The painfull issue is, that girls are being programed as to get ONLY the TOP boy from yeshivah, the one who knows sifri and safru, not the decent average responsible, nice boy.
This speach does nothing but raise the bar of these innocent girls expectations.
Why should a girl that her father and others around her family are average (in Ruchnious- and not in a bad way) hard working, honest and pious people, why should you get into her brain that if her husband wont be this huge Talmud Chuchiom, then her reason of living happily has faded???
Are you following me? That is very painfull, and I felt that this clip just prooves that the girls dont come up with this by themselves, yet they are being "EDUCATED " on this by their teachers.
mooch
no where did she say that in the clip
Wow. Puts the whole thing in a different perspective.
Special,
Thanks for clearing it up.
The last day of school , clears the haze, I guess.
If it was indeed done with her permission, then she knew it will be shared with others, net or not, she knew it might circulate.
Good Shabbos to all.
The teacher perhaps didn't realize that the digital camera is a camcorder as well.
For someone with a shpizel, "movies" are a big no no.
Steve, sorry but your language was a little "over the line". please re-post your comment with respect.
when you are in Rome....
Ruchy, Thanks for the ideas, always appreciated, but your e-mails keep bouncing back, so dont accuse me of ignoring.
Hoizen, I am sure you are right.
I just got an e-mail from a girl who claims that she KNOWS that as soon as the clip started circulating, the school started investigating, and the girl WAS in trouble.
So I am not sure whos sources are correct.
IN any case, since "girl" does not want to be mentioned by name, let me address this to all readers:
The rule of no anonymous comments, was done since it once got out of hand, and I am not sure if we can cange this back yet.
But I want to assure you all, that you can create a bloggers name, without a blog and without releasing any of your personal information.
There is NO WAY of you being identified by your blooger name.
That's a great story. Waiting for more. » » »
